What Do You See?

When was the last time you took the time to really see something? Not just look at, but see it. There is a huge difference.
Our eyes are constantly taking in sights and there is no end to the distractions that fill our eyes and thereby our minds. In our chaotic, distracted, mad-paced world we are always in such a hurry, rushing from one thing to the next, only looking at something long enough to move past it to the next thing. We look at things all the time but we rarely ever pause to really see what we’re looking at.
Oh, the beauty we miss that is right in front of our eyes!
As you go about your day, I invite you, even just for a few seconds, to pause and really see what you’re looking at.
See the smile on a stranger's face;
See the light of joy in your child’s eyes;
See the pain that your friend is trying to be brave through;
See the breathtaking variety of flowers, with their intricate details that rival the best artist’s handiwork;
See the sway of the trees in a gentle breeze;
See the playfulness of your family pet;
See the person needing a helping hand;
See your neighbor surprised by a friendly wave;
See how beautiful your life is even in the midst of the heartache, challenges, and mundane.
Lift your eyes from the distractions, from the screens, from the harried rush to the next thing, and see what is in front of you. The beauty will take your breath away. You just have to pause long enough to see it.
I’d love to hear from you! What did you see today that surprised you, touched your heart, took your breath away, or prompted you to action? How did you feel after pausing long enough to take it in? Hearing your experiences is such a gift! Thank you for sharing them with me!
