Spend Your Life on Purpose

Life is limited. We all have a limited amount of time, energy, and resources. Often we forget that and we overextend, overcommit, and overspend, and then we inevitably hit a place where we feel like life has become out of control and no matter how fast we move or how much we do, we are always two steps behind.

In order to turn the tide of living a life that feels out of control and disconnected, we need to first begin by realizing that our time, energy, and resources are commodities; they are the currency of life. The things that we give them to are what we are investing in. As with any investment, we can make wise decisions or foolish ones. We can be diligent and purposeful in how we invest, or we can be haphazard and careless. Investing our lives wisely and with the best return requires being intentional in our spending.

Your time is a gift; a gift that you have in limited supply. Be mindful of how you spend your minutes, hours, and days. If we don’t intentionally choose how we invest our time, we will waste it on meaningless activities and lack it for what is truly important.

Your energy is a gift; a gift that you have in limited supply. Be mindful of how you spend your energy (that includes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual). Invest in activities that are life-giving, purposeful, and bless you and the world around you. If we don’t intentionally choose how we invest our energy, we will exhaust ourselves on meaningless things and lack it for what is truly important.

Your resources are a gift; a gift that you have in limited supply. Be mindful of how you spend your resources. Invest them in things that truly matter rather than carelessly spending them on the never-satisfied monster of More. If we don’t intentionally choose how we invest our resources, we will bankrupt ourselves on meaningless things and lack it for what is truly important.

This life is limited. Exercise your wonderful ability to choose how you spend your life. You don’t have to be swept away by the whims of the world; they’ll only leave you burnt out, exhausted, and empty. Spend your life on purpose and invest it wisely.
